Frequently Asked Questions
What does Chameleon Design Studio specialise in?
Chameleon Design Studio is a UK-based furniture studio specialising in bespoke, one-of-a-kind statement furniture. We create custom commissions and restore carefully sourced vintage pieces, including drinks cabinets, cocktail bars, sideboards and interior statement furniture.
Do you make completely custom furniture?
Yes. We work on a commission basis, meaning each piece is created specifically for the client. While many projects begin with a sourced vintage base, every commission is refined, restored and finished to suit your space, preferences and requirements.
Can sold-out pieces be commissioned again?
In most cases, yes. If a piece is marked as Sold Out, it can usually be recreated as a commission. While no two pieces are identical, we can source a similar base and adapt the design, finishes and details to create a new, unique version.
Where is Chameleon Design Studio based?
We are based in the United Kingdom. All furniture is sourced, prepared, restored and finished in our UK studio before being shipped to clients.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. We regularly ship commissioned furniture to the UK, Western Europe and the United States. Each piece is professionally packed and prepared for international transport.
Why commission furniture from the UK?
Commissioning furniture in the UK provides access to rare vintage pieces, specialist restoration skills and a long tradition of furniture craftsmanship. Many of the original base pieces we work with are difficult or impossible to source in other countries, particularly outside Europe.
How does the commission process work?
The process begins with a conversation about what you are looking for. A 10% deposit secures the commission and allows us to begin sourcing. Once the piece is prepared and restored, final payment is taken before professional delivery to your address.
How long does a commission take?
Timelines vary depending on sourcing and complexity, but most commissions take several weeks from initial agreement to delivery. An estimated timeframe is provided at the start of each project.
What styles do you work in?
Our work is influenced by Art Deco, vintage and mid-century design, combined with contemporary detailing. We focus on strong proportions, character-led design and furniture that acts as a statement within a space.
